Sadly one of Australia’s most recognisable voice talents has made his final call.
Darrell Eastlake the iconic sports broadcaster passed away today, Thursday April 19th, after a long innings battling Alzheimers and emphysema.
Since his retirement Darrell had been residing at a nursing home on the NSW Central Coast.
Darrell’s voice was immediately recognisable for it’s raspy boom and infectious enthusiasm. He was a member of the Wide World of Sports team and was the original voice on State of Origin Rugby League broadcasts. Australian motor sports fans will remember his work on telecasts of F1 and Speedway events.
