We caught up with Female Talent 8 and asked her a few questions
How did you become a voice talent?
It sounds cliche, but I was the kid who put on performances for her stuffed animals and family. So, I naturally gravitated toward a profession that gave me the opportunity to entertain...radio. I started working in radio when I was 16 years old and was eventually offered a job in production (where commercials are voiced, produced and loaded into the system). It was here that I discovered my love of voice acting. What's not to love? It is like acting, except you could do it in your pyjamas and no one would know.
How long have you been a voice talent?
I have been a voice talent for around 10 years now and still love it every time a new script comes along.
Do you remember the first voiceover you ever got paid to do?
I think it was for a radio promotion if I remember correctly and my "cool/ sexy" voice sounded more like Monica Geller (from Friends) with a cold.
What’s the best voiceover you have ever done?
I have had the opportunity to be involved with some really great projects in the last decade, including the lead character in an audio book by Giselle Simlett called Girl of Myth and Legend, the voice of a sassy strawberry in 2017 Tropfest entrant 'Cool as a Cucumber', as well as some fun scripts for well known brands like McDonalds, Big W and Cadbury.
What’s the worst voiceover you have ever done?
I once did a voice over for some station IDs right after lunch. Needless to say, a little burp escaped during the read, which the image producer then turned into a killer mix for the office Christmas party! Turns out I wasn't the only person to 'feature' in the mix on the night! It was equal parts mortifying, hilarious and catchy!
Do you have a favourite commercial on TV at the moment?
I have a 2 year old daughter, so my TV viewing primarily consists of ABC Kids at the moment. When I do manage to wrangle the remote, I must admit the SpecSavers ads usually give me a little giggle, especially the one where the lifeguard rescues the seal!
If you could voice the part for a cartoon character who would you like to be?
Any and ALL OF THEM!! This is my ULTIMATE dream! I can't put into words what it would mean to me to provide the voice for a cartoon character! Whether it is the latest Disney Princess or a singing cactus in a Nickelodeon show, I am up for anything if it grants me the opportunity to bring to life and animated character.
