In 2009 when we first heard Female Talent 19’s demo we knew we had struck gold and quickly added her to our talent bank.
Don’t let her youthful upbeat voice fool you though, with 17 plus years experience as a voice artists this makes her a consistent performer with the mic. Her positive attitude and passion for voiceovers comes across in every recording she delivers for our customers.
We caught up with Female 19 and asked her a few questions about her love for voiceovers.
How did you become a voice talent?
There used to be a radio broadcasting school in Perth where I studied about 20 years ago. We learned all aspects of the industry there, and I was first called on to do voiceovers for a couple of radio stations then.
How long have you been a voice talent?
I say I have 17 years professional experience, but even on "work experience" as a kid, I did my share of writing and voicing commercials for the local radio station.
Do you remember the first voiceover you ever got paid to do?
I think it was a phone hold message. Almost two decades later and I still love voicing "Thank you for your call. Please hold the line, and we will be with you in just a moment..."
What’s the best voiceover you have ever done?
I was the voice of the cartoon character Mini Malibu on the Australian kids TV show The Beach Crew, which aired on Fox 8 and Cartoon Network. Mini was the main female and I like to think she was the brains of the crew. It was a super fun show and I loved voicing this sweet, smart, cheery character.
What’s the worst voiceover you have ever done?
I'm the voice of a campaign for a chain of luxury resorts and hotels currently running on TV, and while the ads feature images of beautiful tropical locales and the voiceover was a fun but relaxed read... it's also a bit torturous when you're in a padded VO booth talking to yourself about holidays in paradise.
Do you have a favourite commercial on TV at the moment?
Well it's December and they're all Christmas ads! I'm really enjoying the trend of ads that tell a festive story - with a beautiful voiceover to convey the message.
If you could voice the part for a cartoon character who would you like to be?
I'd love Mini Malibu to make a comeback! Australian made animated shows are rare, and it can be tough getting it all done here. Animation is fascinating and fun for me, so any smart, strong characters that make you smile are the best kind.
