We caught up with Male 18 and asked a few questions about his career.
How did you become a voice talent?
It was a natural progression from working in radio.
How long have you been a voice talent?
Since 1981 when I started in radio in Malaysia. /Or it could be 1986 when I did my first voiceover.
Do you remember the first voiceover you ever got paid to do?
It was in 1986, and after thousands of scripts what I read at that particular time escapes me.
What’s the best voiceover you have ever done?
Apart from the promos I used to read for channel 9, probably one I did for Movie World’s Fright Night (the Dark Room).
What’s the worst voiceover you have ever done?
I could answer but then I would be telling on myself. Let’s just say I am very critical of the sound that emanates from my mouth ☺ and I am my worst critic.
Do you have a favourite commercial on TV at the moment?
Not really, I laugh at all the perfume and cologne ads, real shockers… I just don’t get them!
If you could voice the part for a cartoon character who would you like to be?
Bullwinkle the Moose, from Rocky and Bullwinkle… yeah, that’s going back.
