We caught up with Male Talent 3 and asked him a about his voiceover career.
How did you become a voice talent?
It was all a terrible mistake... I was supposed to be a rock star.
How long have you been a voice talent?
Some would debate the part about "talent," but I've been in commercial radio since 1980. I did a TVC for a local menswear shop that same year.
Do you remember the first voiceover you ever got paid to do?
My first commercial at the radio station in 1980 was a 20 second commercial for Pacific Seeds advertising soy bean seeds to farmers.
What’s the best voiceover you have ever done?
They say you're only as good as your last gig, so I guess that would be Sunshine Organic Meats? My personal favourite was 11x30second Television commercials for the Queensland Government a few years back. The pay cheque was most satisfactory.
What’s the worst voiceover you have ever done?
Probably the one for Pacific Seeds... I was 18 years old and had never done a commercial before. Or maybe the live stage announcements at a major international beauty quest years ago when I couldn't pronounce the name of the Russian beauty queen!
Do you have a favourite commercial on TV at the moment?
Any commercial with my voice on it... Tough question. I have a soft spot for the Captain Risky ads for Budget Direct car insurance... they remind me of my driving style.
If you could voice the part for a cartoon character who would you like to be?
Sterling Archer. Or Stewie Griffin. I can't decide.
