Media Group’s Voice Talent of the Week

Media Group’s Voice Talent of the Week

Today we are talking to a voice artist that has been with Media Group since the day we opened our studio doors.

Introducing Female Talent 10!

If we ever need a Voice Talent at the drop of a hat she is always there. This talent has voiced thousands of scripts for us over the years, her consistency and reliability is highly favoured amongst our customers.

Female 10 has a background in radio announcing which has seen her work for many radio stations across Australia and in New Zealand. For the past 10 years she has solely focused on her voiceover career and we are delighted to have her on board.

Let’s hear from Female Talent 10 and find out why she loves being a voice artist.

How did you become a voice talent?
I worked on air in radio for a long time.  My first few jobs were at radio stations in small country towns where I was the token female, and therefore called upon to voice any ads that needed a 'lady voice' – like ‘concerned mum’, ‘nagging wife’ or shops that sold bras, flowers, skincare and general lady stuff.

How long have you been a voice talent?
I voiced ads throughout my radio career, but in April this year I will celebrate (and I really do mean celebrate!) ten years as a full time voice talent.

Do you remember the first voiceover you ever got paid to do?

Not long out of school, I somehow (via the aunt of a friend of a dentist of a babysitter’s friend or something) got hired to record a company’s phone messaging.
I remember thinking as I drove to the ‘studio’ – which was in the basement of someone’s suburban home – that I could either end up cut into little pieces by a crazed axe murderer or get paid for something I really want to do.
As you may have guessed, thankfully it was the latter.

What’s the best voiceover you have ever done?
I am hugely grateful to every business that has entrusted me to get their message across for them.
I suppose the one that has garnered the most 'dinner party' fascination is the IVR I did for an escort company.  I’ll leave you to imagine the menu options.

What’s the worst voiceover you have ever done?
I was once sent a script that was written in txt spk.  I sent it back basically saying I was 2 old 4 dat ðŸ’© (poomoji).

Do you have a favourite commercial on TV at the moment?

The ‘Axe Black’ TV commercial.

If you don’t know it, here’s how it plays out - Sitting near a grand piano in the bar of an upscale restaurant, a man compliments his date on her adorable accent. However, when he asks her to repeatedly say "tomato," he ruins what could have been a romantic moment. Instead of worrying about pronunciation, Axe advises men to know when to shhh, suggesting the subtle fragrance of Axe Black.

Female Talent 10 is available 9am-5pm weekdays. Contact us to book her now.
