With over 3 decades of experience in the media industry Male Talent 13 knows a thing or two about voiceovers.
His voiceover demo is full of goodies and is definately worth a listen.
We caught up with Male 13 and asked him a few things about his voiceover career
How did you become a voice talent?
I was the commercial producer in a regional SA radio station and we had lots of voice overs to do and not many readers so it was part of the gig.
How long have you been a voice talent?
31 years, The gig in SA started me off
Do you remember the first voiceover you ever got paid to do?
Er, i think it was 10 x 30's read and produce for RTA NSW.
What’s the best voiceover you have ever done?
I love anything with variety. On my Demo Little Mr Sunshine for Nova Brisbane was fun, then Avanti Plus or Jockey Club Hotel in the lower register, and cleaver scripts that are not too full of words, the Squires Maiden was one of those.
What’s the worst voiceover you have ever done?
There was one for a small inland NSW station (I should not name names), it was full of the clichés, they were "conveniently located in South Street, No job is too big or too small because they have the runs on the board"
Do you have a favourite commercial on TV at the moment?
The ones for iSelect, with the lady feeding the baby with "second hand banana on everything". Scripting that anyone can relate to, that one nails it.
Ask me 2 months or more ago and the answer would have been the Telstra branding is/was awesome that series is the best I've seen in years.
If you could voice the part for a cartoon character who would you like to be?
Bugs Bunny no question. I cant do it but.....
